PCPHELPLINE: ListServ

As noted in Dr. Robert Roca's President’s Message in the June 2010 Newsletter, “most primary care physicians in this country have seen an increased need to care for more patients with psychiatric disorders, especially depression and substance abuse, primarily because there are not enough mental health clinicians.”  Physicians at the Maryland Psychiatric Society (MPS) are aware that many primary care physicians would like to have a channel of help with difficult mental health problems, prescription questions, and/or finding community based psychiatrists for your patients.  Psychiatrists often need help with medical issues.

In an effort to provide some help, the Baltimore County Medical Association (BCMA) and the Maryland Psychiatric Society (MPS) are offering the Primary Care Physicians Help Line; a listserv for Primary Care Physicians and Psychiatrists at pcphelpline@googlegroups.com.  The purpose of the listserv is to bring both groups together to create a better environment for communication about mental health issues and medical issues.  We hope that this listserv will provide a source of information and help for our BCMA primary care members.

Please take time to review the participation terms and fact-sheet for hints and procedures in using the listserv.   If you would like to join the listserv, email bcma@medchi.org and you will be added to the listserv.   We hope that you find the listserv a help in your practice.
