General Information

Legislative Advocacy

The BCMA makes legislative advocacy for the physicians of Baltimore County priority one. We ensures that members are kept informed of legal and regulatory changes affecting the practice of medicine.  Along with MedChi's lobbyists, we have made great strides for the the medical profession.  Working as a team with state medical society, as well as other components and specialty societies has allowed us to achieve important and helpful legislation to the benefit for the practice of medicine in Maryland. To learn more about these achievements, click here.

General Membership Meetings

The BCMA has joined with the BCMS  to allow a more divers setting and topics for our upcoming General Membership Meeting.  There approximately four (4) General Membership Meetings during the year.  BCMA host meetings in February and May and the BCMS host the meetings in September and November.  These CME meetings give members an opportunity to share concerns and enjoy camaraderie with their colleagues. To assist us in planning these CME programs, we ask each attendant to complete a evaluation form of that program.  This is not only required by CMERC, it allows us to know your likes and dislikes of that program.  We also do a CME survey twice (2) a year.  This give us a map of future programs that are in the interest of our members.  CME meeting are free of charge to members..

Events

Outside of the CME meetings, the BCMA host various events throughout the year.  Some of these events may have a fee, although we try to ensure the least minimum cost to our members.  Many members have enjoyed events such as our Annual Dinner and Installation of Officers.  Although, their is a short ceremony, this more of a social event.  As there are other social events, we also host events that are geared to the practice of medicine, such as the annual Mardi Gras and Trade Show, Legislative Breakfast or our Ice Cream Social.  In planning all events, our members are our guide.

Publications

The BCMA sends out it's newsletter bi-monthly.  In joining, you will not only receive the BCMA Newsletter, you will also receive the various publication from MedChi.

Patient Referral Services

We urge members not only to participate in our referral service, but to keep us updated with your contact information.  The BCMA receive about 10 to 12 calls daily from patients looking for physicians.  We try to connect them with practicing physicians within there area.  They ask for information as the accepted insurances, office hours, sub-specialties and the different languages a physician may speak.  So the more information provided to us, the best we can match a patient to a physician.

Member to Member Information Service

Many members like to send massive mailing, blast faxes, and/or blast emails to other members of offices openings, closings, etc.  The BCMA works as integrate piece in this process.   These lists can be arranged by specialty, zip codes, physicians' ages, gender, etc. There is a minimum charge for mailing labels, however most electronic information is free.  *Please note, if a member informs us that he do not wish for his information to be public or would like to with held from these mailings, than that member will not be included in this data base.

MedChi Network Services

As the BCMA has partnered with MedChi in various programs and services, we are are happy to connect our members in working with MedChi Network Services.  This certified program assist members in implementing related health information technology for their offices.
